Oh well, I may have skipped last week’s diary as I was so very busy last week! I got the chance to go and see Thronecast Live in Sky Studios on Monday. On Tuesday I had some free tickets to see the Sound of Music in the local theatre. On Wednesday I had my usual Spanish class and on Thursday I had a work quarterly team meeting (with pizza). On Friday, I was supposed to see Fleetwood Mac in concert but sadly they cancelled due to illness, so we drowned our sorrows with some Prosecco and shopping instead!
All of that left almost no time for shopping, nor diary writing. But this week I’ve been playing catch-up with my projects. I’m also a few days late on this diary despite having an incredibly lazy weekend!
This week’s projects
I’ve started a new garment this week, Vogue 8577, which is a vintage style dress with a full skirt and pockets. I am using some stash fabric, a silk and cotton chambray blend that is very nice looking but sadly has some water stains. There is enough fabric though that I should be able to cut clever and not include any of the stains on the outer garment. For the lining, I’m using Tula Cotton Soft from myFabrics in a pale grey. I’ve used the Tula Cotton Medium before and I really recommend it, it’s a fantastic cotton perfect for a range of projects.
First toile of V8577 was a disaster but lessons learnt, second one fixed many problems but it’s still not quite perfect on the waist. Third one will hopefully fix up the last of those problems!
Purchases this month
Not too much this week as I’ve been saving up for Woolfest at the weekend! I’ve also been eyeing up some silk but that will have to wait.
I purchased myself some new supplies, chalk pencils and a new rotary blade. I got very upset the day after putting the new rotary blade in place as I glanced the blade across a finger whilst cutting and had a very deep cut that bled and bled. It didn’t hurt much but there was an awful lot of blood! Thank god none of it got on the fabric. I had to plaster it up for 3 days.
Other than that, I just purchased some Tula Cotton Soft and Tula Cotton Percale from myFabrics. The Cotton Soft (in grey) will be the lining for V8577, and the Cotton Percale will be for the side panels of another dress I’m planning (coming soon!)
